Christmas Day 10km - Raising Money for The Children of The Philippines

On a traditional Christmas day I'd wake up, stay in my PJs and eat all day. But in the run up to my London Marathon training, Charlie Dark of Run Dem Crew said to me "if there's anything you do in your training, run on Christmas day". He said if I can run on Christmas day I will be able to get up and run Virgin London Marathon no matter what the weather. 10km on Christmas day.

That was the plan until I heard about what my friends were organising. My friends Karmelo, Sifa and Santiago were planning the same thing. Except they decided to give up their Christmas day for something much more important. They decided to run 10km in remembrance of the lives lost in the Philippines through Typhoon Haiyan, and raise money for Save The Children.

It's so easy to get caught up in our circles of runners who regularly do 10kms, half marathons and marathons. I seriously take inspiration from these guys who aren't in these circles and have managed to get a group of people together to do something for such an important cause. They've taken the time to organise a route and jumpers for people to wear. And, for some involved it will be their first 10km.

We're going down to join them and raise money for the children of the Philippines. If you would like to donate to this cause please do so over on our Just Giving page - it would be very much appreciated!

On DECEMBER 25th 2013 at approximately 9:30am we will be running 10k along and around London's River Thames - WHATEVER THE WEATHER! Starting and ending at Big Ben.

Melo, Sifa and Santiago have said- ALL ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE - we would love for you to join us. RED or BLUE hats are essential!

£25 could buy two families the essentials to store and purify drinking water for 1 month

£50 could buy a family of five basic household items like mosquito nets, blankets, candles, and children's clothes.

£100 could buy three hygiene kits containing soap, shampoo, toilet paper, toothbrushes, nappies and underwear to keep families clean and healthy.
