International Women's Day - Beats & Fast Feet

F&L X INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY EVENT 2019! We are coming together with 12x3 gym to mark the year of #BalanceForBetter. We will be hosting a fundraiser Beats and Fast Feet session on Friday 8th March at 7.30pm, all profits will go to Women In Sport.

The class will be a part of a wider evening with 12x3 where they will also be hosting a boxing class and a panel talk with four incredible female boxers who also work as coaches at the gym. More details below!

Exclusive F&L Merch - IWD editions

And it doesn’t stop there! We have also teamed up with three amazing artists to create some exclusive F&L IWD merch - released exclusively at the event to raise even more funds. We tasked Kelly Anna, Mary Lo and Charlotte Mei to illustrate what women in fitness look like for them.

These illustrations will be screen printed onto Nike training gear– from dri-fit tees to tracksuits. Be the first to get your hands on the merch if you turn up to our event, we can’t promise that we will have much left after the event so you need to be quick to get your hands on them!

About this year’s IWD #BalanceForBetter

We 100% support this year’s initiative around #BalanceForBetter and it’s particularly stark in the world of fitness and sport - not only in visibility, but also representation through different types of sports and also conversations around it too. 

This is the reason we do what we do, and why we want to help raise money to ensure we help bring more gender balance to sport at all levels. 

What better way to do this than supporting the initiatives that Women In Sport do. Women In Sport are the only organisation in the UK that researches sport from the perspective of women. Those insights help influence change through the campaigns and partnerships that they do. These campaigns not only influence sport, but also schools, local councils and national government to ensure there is a level playing field for women and girls in sport in the UK.

12x3 Female Boxing Athletes and Coaches

It is such an honour to do this event with the women from 12x3 who have and continue to change the perception of women in boxing.

If you want to make a big evening of it we definitely suggest you also book onto Fighting for Balance. Fighting for Balance is a boxing class and panel talk which will be held ahead of our class and will be led by coaches Lisa Moore - Team England, Lesley Sackey - Team GB, Valerian Spicer - Team Dominica and Shelly Sweeney - Team England.

These athletes, who have represented their countries, will be holding coaching the boxing session and also talking about how and why they got into boxing during the panel. We’re so inspired by these women, we definitely suggest you go see them too for the rare opportunity to train with all four of them and hear their stories! Link here.

Join us as Nike Trainer and F&L’s very own Kim Ngo takes you through a 45min live workout with the incredible AQWEA who’ll be on the decks dropping all the beats live and direct… all you have to do is keep up! All levels are welcome, as always. You don’t want to miss this one! You’ll also receive an limited edition Nike x F&L tee to train in, and an exclusive tote full of goodies!

Just Doin' It - Press Up & Pull Up Workshop

We just be doin’ it! In this 90 minute workshop, we want to take it right back to the core basics - learn how to do a strict press up and pull up with great form. If you think you already know, there is always room for progression!

These two moves are misinterpreted and done without guidance, so good form is often overlooked. During our Just Doin' It workshop, this will not be the case. For the first half of the session, we want to take you through the various press-up modifications and how to perfect your form, no matter your skill level. In the second half, we want to go through different techniques to getting your first strict pull up or upping the amount of pull ups - with good form - you can do. 

Whether you're looking to perfect form, or looking for different methods to up your press-up and pull-up game, join us for the workshop. Come and learn something to take away, put in action and get stronger and feel confident doing it! 

You’ll also leave with a mini homework booklet that you can track your progress with and really prove whether you’re repping it!

Remember the drill, this is a WORKSHOP, which means we will slow everything down and focus on form, technique and getting you your first, or your next, press-up and pull-up... you’ll come away with more than just a sweat!
