Voga - When Yoga Makes You Strike A Pose

Last weekend, Kim, Rachel and I tried a new form of yoga called VOGA - a new fitness concept which combines the best of the 80s, voguing and yoga! We are SO in love with their logo too <3! Yes, I attended a yoga class. For those who know me, yoga and I don't really get along. I know it is good for  me, I just don't have the patience...YET. One day I will show you my skills!

When Rachel told me Voga  involved voguing, I was down straight away - anything that involves dancing and routines is right up my street!

In case you don't know what Voguing is, it's a stylised dance form, which appropriates and plays with poses and images from mainstream fashion. Remember Vogue by Madonna? She brought this 80s dance routine to mainstream media!

I was a bit worried on the day because Voga  still involves yoga and I wasn't sure I would enjoy it. Man, was I WRONG! It was too good!

"VOGA IS THE BRAINCHILD OF JULIET MURRELL, A SUCCESSFUL SET DESIGNER IN THE FASHION, FILM AND DESIGN INDUSTRY WHO QUALIFIED AS A YOGA INSTRUCTOR TO RESTORE HER NATURAL ENERGY LEVELS, WHICH HAD BEEN DEPLETED BY POST-VIRAL CHRONIC FATIGUE."

A while back I told myself I would get myself into yoga (the girls have been trying to convince for so long...not working lol) so I bought myself some extra grip, toe-less socks. I thought it would make my Yoga experience better.

I brought them in for the class - after sitting in my bag for months still in it's packaging - and put them on, What the heck?! Kim laughed at me because only 4 toes peered through, I didn't put them on properly and the class was about to start so I took them off and tried to forget about my feet lol.

I grabbed a mat and Juliet put the music on. Yes music, and some good tunes too! Voga moves following 80's beats - right in my zone! For a whole hour it was tunes after tunes!

Each part of the body is solicited and has a Voging twist to it - so think a lot of hands, and arms! It' s a real cardio session, we sweated...a lot, but what we loved was how much fun it was! Getting right into the rhythm of things.

I love dancing and it was a great re-introduction for me to yoga. My inexperience in the discipline caught the eye of Rachel as my mat was all over the place, making me look like a whale on my mat ahahaha!

Yoga is my weakness but the routine and the beat made me forget about it and just enjoy it. Juliet's Voga class gave me so much energy, I was fully pumped and ready to go to work after (yeah I had to go to work an evening shift on a Saturday -___-!) I had a lot of fun and as I love to say...IF I CAN DO IT, ANYONE CAN DO IT.

Check out the Voga class video and get yourself to a class here - full details of the timetable can be found here too. If you like the 80's, dancing, yoga and music,Voga is just for you! How GOOD is this video?!

Ps: have you seen the Lycra we are spotting? In case you wondering Kim's and Rachel's are by Y.B.N.B and Juliet's is wearing a creation by the amazingly talented Laurie Nouchka.
